LAHORE: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Member Information Technology (IT) Khawaja Adnan Zaheer has held a meeting with the city traders on the facility of e-filing tax returns.
Addressing the gathering, Zaheer said that e-filing provides facilities to traders. After launching of e-filing system, there is no need to visit tax offices as traders can file their tax returns from their own offices. He said that the FBR received 0.1 million tax returns electronically till date.
Zaheer also said that last year the FBR had uploaded return forms in September and the time was extended till December. However, he said that during the current year the FBR expects the taxpayers to file their tax returns within the given time (until September 30).
Talking about the previous experiences, he said that when he was performing as Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office- II (CCRTO-II) he had established camp offices and help desks but got no response from taxpayers.
He added that the FBR was going to provide facilities to traders on their doorstep and they should also cooperate with the FBR regarding payments of taxes.
He said that the FBR will send SMS to all citizens for the awareness and motivation, adding that social media will also be used to create awareness among the taxpayers.
During the meeting, Chief Information Technology (IT) of FBR Zainul Abadin gave a presentation to traders on e-filing and process to file returns electronically.
In the meeting Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) said that to increase the national income and taxes the coordination between Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), traders and tax bodies in much necessary.
At the end of meeting answer question session was held and traders questioned to the member IT which were answered by him.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting includes Commissioners from RTO-II, Additional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, president Lahore Tax Bar Association (LTBA), Qamaruz Zaman Chaudhary while Naeem Mir, Nadeem Bhatti, Ashraf Bhatti and others represented all markets of Lahore.
