TRANG: Pakmeng port will be upgraded to accommodate the increasing numbers of tourists visiting islands in the Andaman Sea, a Marine Department official said Tuesday.
Kittirasmi Methekul, the engineer leading the study of the project, said Kasetsart University has been commissioned to conduct a survey and environmental-impact assessment of new facilities and expansion of the aging harbour in Sikao district in the southern province. Construction could start in the next fiscal year, the official added. A boat carrying tourists leaves Pakmeng port to islands off the Andaman coast.
