LAHORE: The Punjab government has increased 230 per cent budget for transport from Rs 28 billion to Rs 92.2 billion for the year 2016-17.
The Mass Transit took precedence when it came to the government funding for the transport sector as Rs 89.6 billion rupees were scheduled to be spent on Mass Transit projects.
The ongoing scheme of Lahore Orange Line Metro Train has been allocated Rs 85 Billion for the year while the ‘Allied Works and Support Services’ for the same project has been introduced as a new scheme this year with a total estimated cost of Rs 2.48 billion out of which Rs 1.67 billion will be funded this year.
