LANDI KOTAL: The transporters have called off their strike against tax imposition after officials of both Pakistan and Afghanistan assured them of addressing their grievances.
According to the Torkham border officials, transporters from both the countries agreed to form a joint committee for holding detailed negotiations with the government officials both in Islamabad and Kabul.
The Pakistani transporters held two rounds of talks with government officials at Torkham and apprised them of their hardships owing to imposition of taxes by the Afghan Customs and penalties imposed by Pakistani authorities on Afghan drivers and conductors entering Pakistan without legal travel documents.
