TWINS BURG: Trimming the federal tax code and government spending while increasing job and small business growth for his home district are some of the national and local priorities for U.S. House Rep. David Joyce who spoke to a business-minded audience Aug. 19 at Signature of Solon.

Joyce took the podium and offered his report from inside the Beltway to a crowd of 200 at the luncheon, sponsored by the Twinsburg, Solon, and Aurora chambers of commerce. In his home district, which includes Twinsburg, Twinsburg Township and Reminderville, Joyce said his focus remains on job creation, business growth and the protection of the Great Lakes, an environmental issue championed by Joyce since he took office in 2011.

“For the first time in 35 years, American business deaths now outnumber business births,” he said. “Unless we reverse these trends of American businesses, every day the American dream will continue to die a slow death.

So, for me, the focus needs to be on reversing that trend to get more people creating jobs, which mean getting more people working.”Joyce toured Emery Electric, 2080 Case Parkway South in Twins burg, after the talk. He said government should trim regulations and tax code language that negatively impacts business.
