Trinidad police seize $3m in cocaine, clutch 37 culprits

TRINIDAD: Trinidad police have seized $3 million in cocaine, along with two firearms, in a massive police exercise in the Northern Division here the other day.

An estimated two kg of marijuana were also seized and 37 persons were arrested in the exercises which took place in areas such as Pinto Road, Cleaver Road, and Malabar.

The exercises were led by divisional commander Senior Superintendent David Abraham with assistance from Superintendent Nazrool Hosein, Superintendent Neville Sankar, ASP Hendron Moses, ASP Dominic, ASP Mark, Inspector Mark Maharaj, Inspector Remy, Sgt Katwaroo, Sgt Pitt, and Cpl Sookram, among several others.

At about 2 a.m. yesterday, officers received a phone call from a member of the public that a large quantity of drugs had been seen at a house along Cleaver Road.

The lawmen made their way to the address and executed a search warrant in the presence of one man.

At the home, the officers found 15.925 kilogrammes of pure cocaine along with a .38 revolver and six rounds of ammunition.

The illegal items were seized and the man was taken into custody where, up to late yesterday, he was still being questioned.
