Truck loaded with Iranian apples impounded by Anti-Smuggling Organization Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Customs ASO Islamabad took into possession fresh Iranian smuggling apples along with an offending vehicle valued at Rs1.00million from GT Road, Tarnol Islamabad.

According to details given by Assistant Collector Majid Hussain Gadd while talking with Customs Today that, on a tip-off shared by Ch Zulfiqar Ali, Collector Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad, the ASO Islamabad intercepted a Mazda truck loaded with a large quantity of Iranian origin smuggling apples on its way from Rawalpindi to Peshawar.
A thorough search of the above said vehicle led to a recovery of 5,050 kilogram of imported quality fresh smuggling apples. The possessor of the fruit failed to produce any documentary proof of the legal possession of the recovered item so the ASO seized the perishable item along with the offending vehicle bearing registration No: 6964 and brought the apples to the state warehouse for further investigation.

The ASO lodged an FIR against the possessor of above said item wherease a case has been forwarded to the I&P Department for further investigation.
The ASO squad, who made said seizure, comprises Inspector Hafeez and other supporting staff of class IV. The value of the impounded apples was estimated at Rs0.186million while the worth of the offending vehicle was appraised at Rs0.8million.
