NEW YORK: The Tulsa Port of Catoosa has set fourth best shipping record of 334,000 tons but still lower than the 2013 shipping tonnage.
The port says nearly all of the decline can be attributed to a lack of crude oil moving through the port.
Total tonnage for the month of December was 211,913 tons. Cumulative shipping for 2014 was almost 2.4 million tons.
Outbound totals for agricultural and dry bulk commodities were virtually unchanged, while inbound tonnage figures were actually higher in 2014 than the previous year. Shipments of inbound steel increased by more than 100,000 tons.
Shipping for the entire McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System in 2014 was almost 11.8 million tons. Of that, about 5.8 million tons were shipped through Oklahoma.
