ISTANBUL: Authorities seized about 30 kilos of cocaine worth TL 4.5 million ($1.67 million) at Istanbul’s Ambarlı port. The seizure was revealed here the other day.

Acting on a tip, customs officials inspected a shipping container aboard a vessel that transported a cargo of banana from Ecuador to Spain and arrived at Ambarlı port after loading a cargo of fish from Germany to Bulgaria. Dogs detected 27 packs of cocaine hidden in a refrigerating unit of the container. Authorities launched an investigation into the incident, but it was unclear if there were any detentions regarding the seizure.
