ANKARA: In July 2016/17 Russia exported 1.55 MMT of wheat, which was 16% higher than in July 2015 (1.336 MMT). As the new season started Turkey returned to the list of top importers of Russian wheat. In July 2016 Turkey purchased 337 KMT of Russian wheat (22% of the total July wheat exports).
Egypt bought 156 KMT or 10%. Bangladesh remained among the leaders as well with imports of 135 KMT (about 9%). Exports to Iran, one of the largest importers of 2015/16, were a little bit more than 50 KMT. Though, exports to African countries such as Nigeria, Libya and South Africa increased and their total volume equaled 270 KMT (17.3%).
