ANKARA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wants more investments in Poland and more trade between the countries, according to the Polish prime minister’s office. Erdogan spoke to Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło in China on Sunday. “The Turkish president expressed great interest in investment in our country,” the Polish prime minister’s office said in a statement, adding that Erdogan would like to see revenue from trade exchange grow to USD 7-10 billion yearly.
Polish-Turkish trade is currently valued at some USD 6 billion. On Sunday, Szydło also met Myanmar’s first state councillor Aung San Suu Kyi, with whom she discussed boosting economic ties and trade exchange with Poland, and with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who was interested in Poland’s shipbuilding industry. Szydło’s meetings took place in Beijing, where she attended a Belt and Road Forum focused on China’s planned new Silk Road investment. About 30 countries’ governments were represented at the event.
