ANKARA: Turkey’s exports decreased in January 2016 by 14.4 percent to $9.208 billion compared to the same month in 2015, according to a preliminary report released by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM) on Monday.
Exports of the last 12-month period also dropped by 9.8 percent to $140.635 billion. January of 2016 had one less working day compared to the same month of the previous year, which affected the exports negatively by $386 million, reports said.
If January had the same number of working days for both 2015 and 2016, then the drop in exports would have reportedly been 10.9 percent instead of the realized 14.4 percent.
Germany, the U.K., Italy, the U.S., and Iraq, were the top destinations for Turkish exports in January, although with relative decreases of (respectively) 1.5, 15.9, 2, 6.6 and 47.9 percent.
