ANKARA: Turkey’s foreign trade deficit decreased by 27.4 percent to $6.183 billion in December 2015 from $8.519 billion in the same month of the previous year, the Turkish Statistical Institute reported on Friday.
The report said in December 2015, exports coverage imports was 65.6 percent, up from 60.9 percent in the same month of 2014, according to the report. Exports were $11.802 billion with a 11.1 percent decrease from December 2014, and imports were $17.984 billion with a 17.5 percent decrease compared with the same month in 2014, the report said.
The main partner country for exports was Germany with $1.150 billion. Germany was followed by the United Kingdom with $764 million, Italy with $638 million and the U.S. with $590 million.
China was the top country for Turkey’s imports with $2.154 billion. Imports from Germany were $2.38 billion, from Russia were $1.686 and from the U.S. were $961 million. The report also said tourism income in 2015 decreased by 8.3 percent compared with the previous year to $31.464 billion.
