ANKARA: Turkey’s inflation will not rise further in April, but will also not show the desired downward trend, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci said on Tuesday, forecasting it would hit 8.5 percent or lower by the end of the year.
Speaking at a roundtable with journalists from the state-run Anadolu news agency, Zeybekci said the fall in inflation would begin in May. Turkey’s annual inflation hit its highest in 8-1/2 years in March as chronic weakness in the lira currency stoked a surge in consumer prices.
