ANKARA: Security forces seized 124 kilograms (274 pounds) of hashish in three separate operations in Turkey’s southern and eastern provinces on Wednesday, according to a police source. According to the source, who did not wish to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media, 40 kilograms of hashish (89 pounds) was seized from a car coming from Iran on the Erzincan-Erzurum highway; two foreign nationals were also arrested.
Separately, 80 kilograms of hashish (176 pounds) packed in 160 bags was recovered from a truck in Kurubas area on the Van-Gurpinar highway in Edremit district of eastern Van province; a suspect was arrested. Also, four kilograms (nine pounds) of hashish was also seized from a house in southern Adana province’s Yuregir district in another operation; owner of the house was arrested, the source added.
