Turkish Scrap imports from US plunge during Jan-Oct

NEW YORK: Turkish Scrap imports from United States plunged by 9.13 percent to 2,687,575 metric tons during January to October this year, as compared to 2,957,631 a year early, as per the latest figures from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

However, Turkish total Scrap imports advanced by 7% year-on-year to 14.15 million metric tons during the first ten months of this year, while its value of imports plummeted by 14.4 percent to $3.14 billion.

Turkish total scrap imports climbed by 6.5 percent year-on-year to 1.23 million metric tons during the month of October and was down 10.2% from a month early. The value of October scrap imports totaled $283 million, up 6.3 percent year-on-year and down by 8.6 percent as compared to September.
