Turkmenistan plans to export 200,000 tons of wheat

ASHGABAT: Turkmenistan plans to sell 200,000 tons of the wheat that exceeded the country’s domestic demand, at foreign markets through the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan, according to the decree signed by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov.

The document aims to further increase the country’s export potential to sell wheat surplus.

Earlier it was reported that it was planned to allocate 760,000 hectares of land for winter crops and harvest 1.6 million metric tons of wheat in 2016.

In mid-July it was reported that 1.4 million metric tons of wheat was harvested in Turkmensitan this year. In 2011, Turkmenistan started for the first time to export the surplus wheat.
