LISBON: A Turkish industrial group is going to set up in Vila Velha de Ródão, near Castelo Branco, and invest €5 million in a nut production project, the local town hall said on Monday. “The Turkish industrial group bought 500 hectares of land nearby last week, where it is going to invest €5 million in a farming project “,the mayor of Vila Velha de Ródão, Luís Pereira, told Lusa News Agency.
The mayor said the group was one of the biggest in Turkey and this investment is its first in Portugal. “Given the size of this investment and the strategy they are following, we can expect there may be more investments in Vila Velha de Ródão”, he added. “This is going to be the largest nut farm in the country”, he said.
