Bearing this in mind and taking into account the impressive size and penetration of Twitter as a social network and as a subject and source of news, comment, gossip and incident, off the the top of your head you would expect the platform’s own user numbers to be somewhere around 800 million.
Twitter has 288 million monthly active users. A number that only grew by 2% in the last quarter, a rise that even failed to meet conservative predictions, and one that leaves them more than one billion users behind Facebook in the social media power stakes.
