LONDON: Twitter is revamping its homepage with a newer and fresher look. The new homepage will mark a shift from the earlier simple log in page with a background photo.
According to a report by Slate, the changed homepage for logged-out visitors will roll out publicly in the next few days. When logged out, the new homepage will welcome users with algorithmically generated streams of tweets along with a new mobile search page, which will display the trending topics with a short description. Logged out users will witness popular categories like ‘pop artists,’ ‘business news,’ and ‘cute animals’ along with clickable images. The company has also added in a category called ‘tech blogs and reporters’.
However, users who are not logged in to the site or signed up for the service will not be able to retweet, favourite, or reply to any of the listed tweets. A report by GeekSnack stated that, ‘Twitter needs to redesign its homepage and create one that will make the visitor feel like they truly should become a member of the community.’
