SHIKARIPUR: The Forest Department personnel have arrested two persons on the charge of illegal chopping off of sandal wood trees and transporting the logs from Hulaginakoppa forest in Shikaripur taluk.
Names of the arrested have been given as Suresh Naik and Manja Naik, residents of Nidanegilu village in Hirekerur taluk. It is alleged that, the duo cut a sandalwood tree in the Hulaginakoppa forest limits. They were caught while transporting the sandal wood logs in their motorcycles. The officials have seized sandalwood logs worth Rs. 87,500 and two motorcycles from them.
