Two-day international SMEs conference to start on March 15

LAHORE: After successful manifestation of the first National SME Conference last year, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) will hold a two-day International SME Conference this year on March 15-16 here.

The conference would be attended by delegates from the USA, UK, Turkey, Japan, Italy, Malaysia, Netherland, Germany, the SMEDA sources said here on Thursday. Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi, Federal Minster Industries and Production, would be chief guest.

The other diginagories to be attending the conference include Khizar Hayat Gondal, Federal Secretary Industries and Production, Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman HEC, Dr Hassan Sohaib Murad, Rector University of Management and Technology (UMT), Dr Rebecca Fox, Professor of George Masson University, USA.

The representatives of the private and public sector’s business promotion organizations, including State Bank of Pakistan, SECP, Pakistan Stock  Exchange, Leasing Association of Pakistan, Akhuwat, FPCCI, Bank Alfalah, Association of Management Development Institutes, University of Lahore and the University of Management and Technology (UMT).

CEO SMEDA Sher Ayub, while commenting on the SME conference, has informed that last year the national academia and research institutions were involved in the SME Development cause, whereas this year, the second SME Conference has taken the international institutions into loop to avail of the best SME Development research conducted in the world.

He observed that no viable and long-term development policy and planning could be evolved without first-hand research. He hoped that the series of SMEs conferences was being conducted by SMEDA would help government to introduce revolutionary policies for development industry and business in the country.
