LAHORE: In a shocking development, the government has appointed two directors to the board of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), who are allegedly facing trials for fraud of billions of rupees.
Reportedly, Imam Bakhsh Baloch, who has been appointed as director of the National Bank of Pakistan board by the government, is allegedly facing a whooping Rs2.5b fraud in the bank. Criminal proceedings against him reportedly continue before Anti-Corruption Court No.1, Karachi, and the next date of hearing is April 24.

Moreover, Mohammad Sohail Rajput, an alleged accused in the fake accounts case, has also been appointed director of the National Bank of Pakistan board. He is at serial No 150 of the list of the accused named in the fake accounts case.
People have expressed serious concern about the appointment of the tainted officials to the National Bank of Pakistan board and said it was not expected from the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government that had promised to promote honesty and merit in government departments and society after coming to power.
