Two more enter race for Customs Intelligence DG office

ISLAMABAD: Two more names, including Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira Habib are also under consideration for next Customs Intelligence and Investigation director general.

Sources said that name of Sarwat Tahira was recommended by retiring DG Imtiaz Ahmad Khan to FBR Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan, while Transit Trade Director General Javed Ghani is also included in the race.

Besides, HRM Member Rozi Khan Burki, Appraisement-South Chief Collector Zahid Khokar, Legal Member Shaukat Ali and Zeba Hai are also among the candidates.

The surces informed that Sarwat Tahira, Javed Ghani, Rozi Khan Burki and Zahid Khokar were among the strong candidates for the post.

It may be mentioned here that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has authorised the FBR to transfer and post the officers of Grade 20 and 21. The FBR will finalise the name of next DG in upcoming days.

They added that the chairman was reviewing the performance of all candidates and also having consultation with Administration Member Muhammad Majid Qureshi, adding that the chairman sought appointment of DG on merit. The sources also disclosed that some names have been short-listed.

It is also pertinent to mention here that Imtiaz Ahmad Khan went retire from the post of DG on October 4, 2016.
