Two ships take berth at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Two ships C.V Mataquito and M.T Harmony-1 carrying containers and Furnace oil were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Friday.

Meanwhile three more ships C.V Torrente, New Nexzos and Sakizaya Diaono with Containers, Furnace oil and Soya Bean also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was observed at the port at fifty percent on Thursday where a total of eight ships namely, Mataquito, Deira, Santa Virginia, Anthemis, Frontier Leader, Epic Sardinia, Maran Gas Asclepiusand Harmony-1 are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, Coal, Canola Seeds, LPG, LNG and Furnace oil respectively. A cargo volume of 129,711 tonnes, comprising 97,544 tonnes import cargo and 32,167 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,844 containers TUEs) 1,151 imports TUEs and 1,693 TUEs exports) was handled at the port.

Chemicals carrier Epic Sardinia and Gas carrier Maran Gas Aslepius sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more container ships Mataquito & Deira and a bulk cargo carrier Santa Virginia are expected to sail on same day.

Four ships C.V Torrente, C.V Maersk Izmir, M.V New Ero and M.T YM Miranda carrying Containers, Coal and Chemicals are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-2 and EVTL respectively on Friday, while an oil tanker Pacific Lagoon is due to arrive at PQ on same day.

Two more container ships Safmarine Ngami and APL Coral are due to arrive at PQ on Saturday and M.T Bahra, M.V Bao and Ling and Khor Gas are due to arrive on Sunday, June 4.
