Two women arrested, $19K of cocaine seized in Guelph drug bust, police say

OTTAWA: Guelph police seized more than $19,000 worth of cocaine in a drug bust in the city’s west end Wednesday and two women have been charged with multiple offences, the force says.

Arrest warrants have also been issued for two men, police said.

Officers found more than 196 grams of cocaine, which would have a street value of more than $19,000, in an Ajax Street apartment Wednesday while executing a search warrant, police said in a release.

Acetone, machete also seized

The officers also seized more than 8,000 grams of acetone, a cutting agent used to dilute the purity of cocaine, as well as a small quantity of marijuana, cannabis resin and prescription pills.

A large machete and a set of martial arts weapons known as sais were also seized, along with numerous cellphones, digital scales and plastic bags “all indicative of drug trafficking,” police said. Officers also seized $6,300 in cash.

A 37-year-old Guelph woman has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.

A 41-year-old Guelph woman has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, trafficking a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime. She was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with driving while under suspension.
