The vehicle was travelling to the Isle of Man on the overnight ferry.

A drugs dog helped to carry out a search of the vehicle and indicated the presence of drugs in the boot of the vehicle.

Officers searched the vehicle but nothing could be found. Lancon Flint, the drugs dog, searched the vehicle again and indicated drugs in the boot. Officers then found a purpose-built cavity that contained cannabis resin bars worth in excess of £100,000.

Two men and a 14-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug with intent to supply.

Neil Mentac, 25, of Alpha Street, Liverpool and Peter Riley, 27, of Alpha Street, Liverpool, were both charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply – class B cannabis resin. The 14-year-old was released without charge.
