LONDON: U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Food & Drug Retailers and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares lower. At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.94% to hit a new 1-month low. The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were DCC (LON:DCC), which rose 2.10% or 130.0 points to trade at 6320.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) added 1.73% or 140.000 points to end at 8245.000 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 1.34% or 2.60 points to 195.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO), which fell 4.24% or 8.75 points to trade at 197.80 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 3.79% or 26.00 points to end at 660.00 and Old Mutual PLC (LON:OML) was down 3.42% or 7.30 points to 205.90. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1283 to 616 and 384 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.52% or 6.25 to $1197.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.92% or 0.49 to hit $52.68 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.28 to trade at $55.42 a barrel. GBP/USD was down 0.60% to 1.2473, while EUR/GBP rose 0.54% to 0.8566. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 100.50.
