WASHINGTON: U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Buffalo Border Patrol Station arrested an illegal alien who is a member of the Sureños gang. On August 9, 2017, Buffalo Station Border Patrol agents were investigating information received about illegal aliens present at a residence near Buffalo, NY. While transiting through the area, agents observed a male subject standing outside the residence. During a consensual encounter with the subject, he admitted to being a citizen of Mexico, and illegally present in the United States.
The subject, later determined to be 34 years of age, had multiple gang related tattoos and admitted to being affiliated with the Sureños gang. Further investigation revealed that the subject had been previously removed from the United States and had a prior conviction in New Jersey for felony possession/distribution of a controlled substance on school property. The subject was arrested, processed for removal, and transported to the Batavia Federal Detention Facility. Sureños have emerged as a national gang in the United States and are involved in every aspect of criminal activity, including homicides, drug trafficking, kidnapping, and assaults. This arrest showcases the efforts of the men and women of the Buffalo Border Patrol Station. “Apprehending and removing criminals from our communities provides all of us a safer place to live,” said Jeff Wilson, Patrol Agent in Charge of the Buffalo Border Patrol Station.
