U.S. Customs Agents seize cocaine in figurines at ATL

ATLANTA,: U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Agriculture Specialists and Officers seized three pounds of cocaine hidden inside of figurines, according to a press release.

A 24-year-old female was asked to step aside for further investigation at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

When looking through the woman’s luggage, specialist examined three metal decorative figurines. Specialists were able to use x-ray equipment that revealed the something else inside.

Officers with CBP found a white-powdery substance, according to a press release from the U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection.

After testing at a field lab, the tests came back positive as cocaine.

“Our CBP Agriculture Specialist and Officers are on the front line stopping prohibited items from reaching the U.S. and that includes narcotics,” said Carey Davis Atlanta CBP Area Port Director.

According to the CBP, the cocaine was taken and the woman was returned to her home country of Honduras.
