WASHINGTON: In April 2016, U.S. kraft paper shipments were 137.8 thousand short tons, 3.7% lower compared to April 2015. Bleached kraft paper shipments increased from 7.8 thousand short tons in March to 8.5 while unbleached kraft paper decreased from 140.2 to 129.3 thousand short tons, as the American Forest & Paper Association reported.
Overall, shipments in the first four months of 2016 were 1.1% lower compared to the same period in 2015. Total month-end inventories decreased from 82.3 to 76.2 thousand short tons.
