JONESBORO: Authorities said more than 93 pounds of crystal methamphetamine worth about $5.3 million was seized from a Jonesboro here the other day.
According to the Clayton County Police Department, a drug task force executed a search warrant at a home on Candle Light Court and found the drugs.
Two people were arrested. Their names have been withheld pending further investigation.
The Clayton County Police Drug Task Force said the bust is significant because it shuts down a major distribution hub along the eastern seaboard.
This was the second drug bust in the metro area in the last two days.
On Thursday, Atlanta Police Narcotics Officers smelled raw marijuana coming from an SUV.
After pulling over the vehicle, officers found three large pot plants. One of them over six feet tall.
“I’d imagine with three large plants, I’m pretty sure, it was a strong smell of marijuana emanating from that vehicle,” said Officer Ralph Woolfolk.
Police arrested Thomas Deaton. Woolfolk says police do not believe Deaton is a major trafficker.
