UAE trade delegation in Georgia to strengthen trade, investment relation

DUBAI: Sultan Al Mansouri, the Minister of Economy, met Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili during his three-day official visit to the Caucasus nation.

Mr Al Mansouri, who is leading a delegation of officials, discussed ways to strengthen relations in the economic, trade and investment sectors.

They also examined avenues for cooperation in aviation and air travel. The countries also explored the potential investment opportunities in the transport, tourism, energy and manufacturing industries.

They agreed to organise trade exhibitions, fairs and business forums in their countries, the state news agency Wam reported.

Mr Al Mansouri said economic relations “had been improving steadily over the last few years” with total trade reaching Dh720 million last year.

“Both the UAE and Georgia have so much to offer each other, and we look forward to seeing our two countries work for the mutual benefit of our people,” Mr Al Mansouri said.

Mr Garibashvili said his country offered a friendly investment climate for the UAE. He also praised the UAE’s rapid economic transformation.

The UAE delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Economy, UAE International Investors Council, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, Dubai Exports, Abu Dhabi Ports Company, and other businesses.
