All of the unsafe items were destined for small online sellers.

The seizures are part of an operation which also involved the National Trading Standards Safety at Ports & Borders teams and UK Border Force officials.

The motor-powered hover-boards, were found to have dangerous charging adapters and unsafe batteries.

Hair-straighteners seized had a lack of wiring insulation next to the heat pads, making them hazardous.

People are being encouraged to report any sellers, websites or products which they suspect of being unsafe to the Citizens’ Advice consumer helpline on 03454 04 05 06.
