LONDON: Activity in Britain’s construction sector slowed to its lowest level since the summer of 2013, but firms are optimistic about the next 12 months.
However, while this was the slowest pace of output since July 2013, it was still higher than the long run series average of 54.5 and well above the crucial 50 mark that separates expansion from contraction.
Ending the year on a disappointing note, the Markit/CIPS purchasing managers’ index for the construction sector dropped to 57.6 in December, down from 59.4 in November.
