UK govt wants long-term friendly ties with Pakistan: Baroness Nosheena

LAHORE: Member of UK House of Lords Baroness Nosheena Mobarik has called on Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Ijaz A Mumtaz at the LCCI and discussed economic relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom with him.

Nosheena Mobarik said that the British government is committed to a long-term, productive and friendly partnership with Pakistan. She said that the United Kingdom views Pakistan as a long-term strategic partner and would continue to support all its endeavours aimed at expansion of trade relations between the two countries.

The British entrepreneurs working in Pakistan are having continued interest to work and safeguard their businesses and are looking forward to opportunities to further increase their operations by expanding existing projects and explore new avenues for investment, she said.

The LCCI president called for concrete steps to enhance diversified strategic partnership between the two countries. He said strengthening of relations with the UK is a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy, as Pakistan views the United Kingdom as an important member of the European Union.
