LONDON: U.K. stocks advanced, following a weekly decline, as miners rose after China moved to stimulate the economy.
Anglo American Plc, BHP Billiton Ltd. and Rio Tinto Group climbed at least 1.7 percent after China’s central bank cut the amount of reserves lenders need to hold by the most since the global financial crisis. Shire Plc and AstraZeneca Plc advanced at least 1.4 percent as health-care companies gained.
The FTSE 100 Index climbed 0.9 percent to 7,056.74 at 8:43 a.m. in London. The FTSE All-Share Index rose 0.8 percent, while Ireland’s ISEQ Index added 0.6 percent today.
