NEW YORK: U.K. stocks climbed to a 2008 high, led by Burberry Group Plc and miners including Fresnillo Plc.
The FTSE 100 added 0.3 percent to 7,096.78 at the close in London. The broader FTSE All-Share Index rose 0.3 percent, while Ireland’s ISEQ Index advanced 1 percent.
Burberry added 2.5 percent after the British maker of $1,895 trenchcoats said second-half sales gained 10 percent.
Fresnillo rose 2.2 percent after saying silver output rose 19 percent in the first quarter and after keeping its full-year outlook. Anglo American Plc and Glencore Plc gained at least 1.5 percent.
Next Plc added 2.5 percent after JPMorgan Chase & Co. raised its rating on the stock to the equivalent of a buy. Dixons Carphone Plc climbed 2 percent after saying it will sell its German electronic retailer The Phone House to Drillisch AG.
