NEW YORK: U.K. stocks were little changed after falling yesterday as gains in Wolseley Plc offset a decline in tobacco firms.

British American Tobacco Plc fell 1.7 percent after a Quebec court ruled that the company’s Canadian unit should pay about C$10.5 billion ($8.4 billion) in damages linked to class-action lawsuits. Wolseley posted its biggest jump since January after the distributor of building materials and bathroom supplies said third-quarter sales for ongoing businesses gained 17 percent.
