NEW YORK: U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Gas Water & Multiutilities and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 rose 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Tullow Oil Plc (LONDON: TLW), which rose 6.12% or 17.20 points to trade at 298.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Centrica Plc (LONDON: CNA) added 4.97% or 11.90 points to end at 251.20 and Petrofac (LONDON: PFC) was up 3.70% or 30.50 points to 855.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Antofagasta (LONDON: ANTO), which fell 2.83% or 20.00 points to trade at 687.00 at the close. CRH (LONDON: CRH) declined 2.54% or 44.00 points to end at 1687.00 and WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LONDON: MRW) was down 2.19% or 4.50 points to 201.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London STOCK EXCHANGE by 1078 to 1032 and 352 ended unchanged.
