UK stocks higher at end of trade, FTSE 100 surges 1.88%

NEW YORK: U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Oil & Gas Producers and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the FTSE 100 rose 1.88%.

The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were BG Group (LONDON:BG), which rose 6.74% or 57.50 points to trade at 910.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Petrofac (LONDON:PFC) added 5.56% or 53.50 points to end at 1016.00 and Tullow Oil Plc (LONDON:TLW) was up 5.48% or 15.60 points to 300.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were International Airlines Group (LONDON:ICAG), which fell 1.17% or 7.00 points to trade at 591.50 at the close. Direct Line Insurance Group Plc (LONDON:DLGD) declined 0.25% or 0.80 points to end at 318.80 and Burberry Group (LONDON:BRBY) was down 0.06% or 1.00 points to 1714.00.
