UK stocks higher at end of trade, United Kingdom 100 gains 0.08%

NEW YORK: U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Electrical and Food & Drug Retailers sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.08%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LONDON:LSE), which rose 2.17% or 52.00 points to trade at 2444.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Wolseley PLC (LONDON:WOS) added 2.10% or 87.00 points to end at 4223.00 and Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LONDON:LLOY) was up 2.09% or 1.5200 points to 74.2300 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were RSA Insurance Group PLC (LONDON:RSA), which fell 20.84% or 106.200 points to trade at 403.300 at the close. Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN) declined 5.56% or 7.0000 points to end at 119.0000 and Standard Chartered PLC (LONDON:STAN) was down 4.23% or 30.600 points to 692.100.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1106 to 1036 and 428 ended unchanged.

Shares in Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN) fell to all time lows; down 5.56% or 7.0000 to 119.0000. Shares in Standard Chartered PLC (LONDON:STAN) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.23% or 30.600 to 692.100.

Gold for December delivery was down 0.46% or 5.20 to $1132.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.98% or 1.34 to hit $46.36 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.93% or 0.92 to trade at $48.38 a barrel.
