NEW YORK: U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.44%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Shire PLC (L:SHP), which rose 2.55% or 115.00 points to trade at 4626.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Compass Group PLC (L:CPG) added 1.71% or 18.00 points to end at 1072.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (L:HIK) was up 1.69% or 35.00 points to 2105.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Anglo American PLC (L:AAL), which fell 7.38% or 49.80 points to trade at 625.50 at the close. Glencore PLC (L:GLEN) declined 5.17% or 6.0000 points to end at 110.0000 and Antofagasta PLC (L:ANTO) was down 3.45% or 20.00 points to 559.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1086 to 1011 and 489 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.01% or 12.00 to $1171.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.56% or 1.22 to hit $46.50 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.86% or 1.45 to trade at $49.02 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.15% to 1.5465, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.7320.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 94.99.
