UK venture capitalist keen to invest in tourism & real estate sectors

RAWALPINDI: A twenty member UK-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UKPCCI) delegation paid a visit to the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) here on Tuesday.

The delegation led by Muhammad Shoaib Zafar, commercial consular of Pakistan High Commission in London and accompanied by top executives of UKPCCI including President Amjad Khan, General Secretary Barrister Waheed ur Rehman, Senior Vice President Syed Asad Hussain, Company Secretary Tahira Butt and Director Fariha Quddus, among others.

Muhammad Shoaib Zafar while addressing RCCI’s members said that the UKPCCI has visited different parts of Pakistan and held meetings with Government officials and Chamber of Commerce’s aiming to explore business and investment avenues and opportunities for making investment in the areas of tourism, education, information technology, real estate and halal foods.

He expressed the hope that the visit would help the business community of the two countries promote trade and investment relations, besides boosting tourism for the benefit of the two countries and its masses.

President Amjad Khan while lauding RCCI’s efforts in promoting trade and business activities said that they have identified around 25 different sectors of Pakistan’s economy. General Secretary Barrister Waheed said Pakistan’s real estate sector also offered lucrative opportunities to UK investors, who have already invested in numerous real estate projects in Gwadar and were exploring more investment opportunities in this particular sector.

General Secretary UKPCCI, while highlighting the tourism potential of Pakistan, stated that UK investors were looking forward to setting up resorts in some of the most scenic areas in different parts of Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, President RCCI Malik Shahid Saleem said that Pakistan economy is lifting and country offers profitable investment opportunities and added facilities for trade, investment and joint ventures to British business and industrial community.

He stressed that the RCCI and UKPCCI should improve their networking and work closely with each other to gather information on the concerns faced by businessmen and entrepreneurs of both countries. RCCI have been vocal in promoting true image of Pakistan and we should explore more avenues in tourism and hospitality sectors. He said that RCCI was keen to strengthen trade ties and exploring new bilateral trade prospects with UK.
