KIEV: According to the data from the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority”, in the period of January-August 2015 transshipment of grains in the country’s ports grew 16.6% to 22.44 MMT compared to 19.25 MMT of the same time period last year. Export of grains through the ports from the start of 2015 grew 20.7% to 21.608 MMT against 17.895 MMT last year, cabotage shipments – almost 2 times a year to 301.43 KMT against 171.41 KMT.
According to Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Mr. Pavlenko, geograghy of Ukrainian export of agricultural products is shifting towards Asia. The main importers of Ukrainian agricultural products in the first half of 2015 were China, India, Egypt, Turkey, Spain, Iran. This leads to the use of maritime transport for export and active shipments through the country’s ports.
