KIEV: Ukraine’s grain exports hit a record high 39.4 million tonnes in the 2015/16 July-June season, exceeding the previous season’s volume by 13 percent, the agriculture ministry said on Saturday. The volume included 17.35 million tonnes of wheat, 17.40 million tonnes of maize and 4.41 million tonnes of barley, the ministry said in a report.
Ukraine harvested around 60 million tonnes of grain in 2015. The country, which harvested 63.8 million tonnes of grain in 2014, exported 34.8 million tonnes of grain in the 2014/15 season. The country is likely to harvest around 58 million tonnes of grain in 2016, according to analysts estimates.
