KIEV: The latest statistics released by the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine indicate that iron ore exports from Ukraine jumped significantly higher during the year 2015. The exports from the country totaled 45.694 million tons during the entire year 2015. This is 11.9% higher when matched with the exports during the year before that. Ukraine had exported 40.835 million tons of iron ore during 2014. The exports of iron ore fine without sinter totaled 28.147 million tons, increasing significantly by 15.5% over the year, when compared with the exports of 24.370 million tons in 2014. The exports of iron ore fines with sinter were up by 6.6% over the previous year to total 17.547 million tons in 2015.
The iron ore export prices by Ukraine averaged at $45.8 per ton during 2015. The total value generated by iron ore exports by the country during this period amounted to $2.093 billion. The largest destination of Ukraine’s iron ore exports was China. The country’s iron ore exports to China totaled 22.123 million tons, accounting for nearly 48.5% of the total Ukranian exports. The exports to China were up by 13.2% in 2015 when matched with the year before.
The second largest importer of iron ore from Ukraine was the Czech Republic. The imports totaled 5.152 million tons, rising by 11.6% year-on-year. In third place was Poland with imports of 5.091 million tons. The iron ore exports from Ukraine to Poland were up marginally by 3.2% in 2015 over the year before.
