KIEV: Ukraine has increased its demand for natural gas import from Slovakia to 38 million cubic metres, Dzerkalo Tyzhnia reports. According to Ukrtransgaz, state-owned operator of the gas transportation system, the overall gas import from Europe accounts for around 38 mln cubic metres as of July 30.
This amount includes over 30 million cubic metres from Slovakia, over 4 million cubic metres from Poland and over 2 million cubic metres from Hungary. No Russian natural gas has been imported into Ukraine for 248 days. Since July Ukraine has started full-scale gas import for its underground gas storage facilities. In August it plans to buy around 1,5 billion cubic metres of gas, in September – almost 2 billion.
