Ukraine soybean exports reach 245 KMT in 2016

KIEV: In March 2016 soybean exports from Ukraine reached 245 KMT against 216.8 KMT in March 2015. Despite the fact that Ukrainian soybean exports approached the record high in November 2015, increased in January and March 2016 compared with last season, in general total soybean exports declined since the beginning of season 2015/16. During September-March Ukraine supplied 1484.1 KMT of soybean to foreign markets that was 21.6% less than during the same period of season 2014/15 (1797.8 KMT).

Turkey was the main importer of soybean from Ukraine – 611.6 KMT (41%), Egypt was the second largest buyer with 253 KMT (17%), EU countries took slightly more than 200 KMT (about 16%), and Iran – 194.7 KMT (13%).

Soybean exports lowering resulted from increased crushing. Currently we see growing exports of soybean processed products. Ukrainian export data shows soybean meal and soybean oil export shipments increase year on year. Since the beginning of the current season, soybean meal exports reached 170.5 KMT compared with 100 KMT during the same period last season, soybean oil exports – 91 KMT (72.7 KMT last marketing year). Most of soybean oil was exported to China – 53.1 KMT or almost 60% of total Ukrainian exports.
