KIEV: Ukraine’s grain stocks totalled 24.5 million ton as of August 1, up 17 percent from a year earlier, the State Statistics Service said on Friday.
Stocks at large and medium-sized agriculture companies included 17.5 million tons of wheat, 4.2 million tons of barley and 2.0 million tons of corn. The data does not include grain stored at hundreds of small Ukrainian farms.
Ukraine plans to harvest about 60 million tons of grain in 2015. It consumes around 26 million tons per season and exported a record 34.8 million tons in the 2014/15 season, which runs from July to June.
